Nvidia's GTC announcements spanned from Blackwell to 6G research, encompassing a wide range of cutting-edge technologies.

NVIDIA Unveils 6G Research Cloud Platform to Advance Wireless Communications With AI

Ansys, Keysight, Nokia, and Samsung are among the pioneering companies to adopt NVIDIA Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin, Aerial CUDA-Accelerated RAN, and Sionna Neural Radio Framework. Their collaboration signifies a significant step towards achieving the future of telecommunications.

GTC—NVIDIA has unveiled a groundbreaking 6G research platform that provides researchers with an innovative approach to advancing wireless technology.

The NVIDIA 6G Research Cloud platform is designed to be open, flexible, and interconnected, offering researchers a comprehensive suite of tools to drive AI advancements in radio access network (RAN) technology. This platform enables organizations to accelerate the development of 6G technologies that will connect billions of devices to cloud infrastructures, paving the way for a hyper-intelligent world supported by autonomous vehicles, smart spaces, extended reality experiences, immersive education, and collaborative robots.

Leading technology companies and academic institutions, including Ansys, Arm, ETH Zurich, Fujitsu, Keysight, Nokia, Northeastern University, Rohde & Schwarz, Samsung, SoftBank Corp., and Viavi, have already embraced the NVIDIA 6G Research Cloud platform as adopters and ecosystem partners.
Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecom at NVIDIA, emphasized the need for significant advancements in wireless spectral efficiency in radio communications to support the exponential growth of connected devices and new applications in the 6G era. He highlighted the importance of leveraging AI, a software-defined, full-RAN reference stack, and next-generation digital twin technology to achieve this goal.
The NVIDIA 6G Research Cloud platform comprises three foundational elements:

1. NVIDIA Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin for 6G: This reference application and developer sample enables researchers to conduct physically accurate simulations of complete 6G systems, ranging from individual towers to city-scale deployments. It incorporates software-defined RAN and user-equipment simulators, as well as realistic terrain and object properties. By utilizing the Omniverse Aerial Digital Twin, researchers can simulate and develop base-station algorithms based on site-specific data, and train models in real-time to enhance transmission efficiency.

2. NVIDIA Aerial CUDA-Accelerated RAN: This software-defined, full-RAN stack provides a powerful platform for researchers to optimize and accelerate RAN development. It leverages NVIDIA's CUDA technology to deliver high-performance computing capabilities, enabling researchers to explore and innovate in the field of wireless technology.

3. NVIDIA Aerial AI-on-5G: This component of the platform enables researchers to harness the power of AI to enhance 5G networks. By leveraging AI algorithms and models, researchers can optimize network performance, improve resource allocation, and enable intelligent decision-making in real-time.
With the NVIDIA 6G Research Cloud platform, researchers have the tools they need to push the boundaries of wireless technology and shape the
